Introduction of the new versions and names
For 2023, one of Volvo's goals is to offer its customers more configuration options than ever before. To meet this new need, the brand has introduced three interior trim levels and three new exterior styling versions while eliminating the T5 and T6 names.
As a result, you will find the Core, Plus and Ultimate interior versions, which can be combined with a choice of Base, Dark and Bright exterior versions!

B6 engine gets a little hybrid
For 2023, the T6 engine gets mild hybridization for the first time, allowing the 295-horsepower engine to save fuel with a 48V battery. The hybrid system works during braking, acceleration and restarting the engine (start & stop function), allowing for smoother driving while improving your fuel economy.
The T8 hybrid engine with new features
As for the T8 hybrid powertrain, the year 2023 offers increased features, such as a third battery bank that allows the Volvo XC90 to reach 455 horsepower. The electric drive alone provides a range of 73 km* (WLTP Combined).
The new 2023 colors
Three new colors make their appearance on the 2023 Volvo XC90:
- Platinum Grey
- Bright Dusk
- Silver Dawn

The 4-year Volvo Cars Service subscription
Introduced on select Volvo models in 2022, the digital service including Google features (Google Maps, Google Assistance & Google Play Store) as well as the Volvo Cars app is now offered for 4 years.
The Shift By Wire
2023 is also synonymous with the introduction of shift by wire, which is an automatic transmission in which the gears are shifted electronically without any mechanical connection between the gearshift and the transmission.
The 100% electric version of the XC90 in 2023?
Unveiled in November 2022, Volvo's larger SUV will now have an electric version in place of the Volvo EX90. However, this vehicle is expected in Quebec for the beginning of 2024.
