4315 Boulevard Métropolitain Est, Montreal, QC, H1R 1Z4The 2026 Volvo XC90 represents the top of Volvo's SUV range. Thought to accommodate up to seven passengers in comfort and safety, it combines advanced technology, generous space and choice of engines suited to different driving styles.
Two versions are available: the B6 AWD, with light hybrid, and the T8 Plug-in Hybrid, a plug-in hybrid variant, more powerful and more efficient in mixed use.
Discover in this article the complete technical data sheet of the 2026 Volvo XC90 .
The Volvo XC90 B6 AWD is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine, combining a compressor and turbocharger, offering responsiveness at low revs and solid acceleration. This block develops 295bhp at 5400rpm and torque of 420Nm available between 2100 and 4800rpm. A light hybridisation system supports acceleration and reduces fuel consumption, thanks to a 13bhp starter-alternator coupled to a small 10kW electric motor.
For its part, the Volvo XC90 T8 Plug-in Hybrid is based on the same combustion engine, boosted to 312bhp, combined with a 143bhp electric motor. The combination delivers combined power of 455bhp and torque of 710Nm. The lithium-ion battery, located in the central tunnel, offers a useful capacity of 14.7 kWh, allowing up to 53 km of all-electric range.
Transmission-wise, the two versions feature an 8-speed automatic gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive. The T8, however, has a slightly different system (AW TG-81SD) to handle the dual powertrain.
Thanks to its dynamic powertrains, the 2026 Volvo XC90 has no shortage of temperament. The B6 AWD accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, while the more powerful T8 achieves the same in 5.3 seconds. The top speed is limited to 180 km/h on both versions, in line with Volvo's safety policy.
The consumption logically varies according to version: reckon on around 10.4 L/100 km in the combined cycle for the B6, and 8.9 L/100 km for the T8, with an equivalent electric consumption of 3.8 L/100 km when the battery is charged.
The XC90 offers reassuring roadholding thanks to a double wishbone front suspension and a composite leaf rear axle. An adaptive air suspension is available as an option, allowing ground clearance to be varied between 212 and 252 mm depending on driving conditions.
The steering is precise, with a gear ratio of 16.8:1 and a turning radius of 11.8m, very decent for a vehicle of this size. The braking is powerful and enduring, with large ventilated discs (up to 366 mm at the front for the T8) and a stopping distance of 36 metres from 100 to 0 km/h.
The XC90 is designed to offer optimum comfort to its occupants, whatever their seat. It can accommodate up to 7 passengers in a three-row configuration.
The overhead height with sunroof reaches 1033 mm at the front, and 987 mm / 979 mm / 923 mm for the first, second and third rows respectively with the panoramic roof.
The legroom dimensions guarantee good comfort even for adults: 1038 mm in the front, 940 mm in the second row and 811 mm in the rear.
The shoulder width rises to 1465 mm at the front, 1435 mm in the second row and 1192 mm in the third row, ensuring appreciable space, even with three abreast.
In terms of hip room, the XC90 offers 1422 mm / 1435 mm / 1140 mm in all three rows.
access to the third row remains easy thanks to the sliding seats in the second row, and the comfort there remains suitable for short journeys or children.
