Since its launch in the summer of 2000, the Volvo S60 has evolved through 3 consecutive generations.
The first, marketed until 2009, focused on safety. From 2010 to 2018, the 2nd generation, introducing a more modern design and advances in safety (City Safety system). Then, the third generation has been marketed since 2019, based on the SPA platform, offering new comfort and safety technologies, as well as new powertrains, including its Recharge version.
In this article, we explain why you should consider the latest and what the Volvo S60 Recharge 2024 includes in terms of equipment.
Technically, the Volvo S60 Recharge 2024 remains identical to the 2023 model. Namely, a 312 hp turbocharged 4-cylinder combustion engine, coupled with a 143 hp electric motor. Together, these provide 455 hp, 523 lb-ft of torque and a 100% electric range of 64 km WLTP.
To ensure optimum comfort and roadholding, this power is transmitted to the 4-wheel drive, coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Since 2023, the entire Volvo range has dropped the names Momentum, Inscription and R-Design, to make way for Core, Plus and Ultimate. These new names allow the Volvo S60 Recharge to include more equipment as standard.
Starting with the Core trim, the Volvo S60 Recharge 2024 offers advanced connectivity with Google Maps, Google Assistant and 4-year PlayStore included!
As well as Apple CarPlay, the Volvo Cars app, a panoramic roof, blind spot detection and an anti-collision system with oncoming vehicles.

In addition to the elements listed above, the Plus trim level offers full driving assistance and a 360-degree camera with parking assistance and adaptive cruise control.
All this ensures smooth driving, automatically adapting speed and maintaining a safe distance. In the city, for example, it can follow the vehicle in front, brake automatically, and warn when traffic resumes.

The Ultimate trim level elevates the experience with a Harman Kardon premium audio system, power seat extension, Orrefors ® crystal gearshift and head-up display for an even more luxurious driving experience.
Finally, the Black Edition, available on Plus and Ultimate trim levels, offers an even more exclusive configuration than usual.

But why should you really consider the new Volvo S60 Recharge 2024?
In a word, the price. In 2024, the lease price of a plug-in hybrid will be similar to that of the gasoline version, with identical equipment - but without the 64 kilometers of electric range.
The reason why plug-in hybrids are less expensive is due to government rebates of up to $10,000 for the purchase or lease of an electrified Volvo.
