Did you know that in 2023, the Tesla Model Y and the Tesla Model 3 were the two best-selling electric cars in Canada (Model Y: 29,582 units; Model 3: 29,122 units)? When it comes to electric vehicles, there's no denying that Tesla has made a name for itself in Quebec. However, not everyone who wants to drive an electric car wants to do so with the American brand. With this in mind, Volvo has...

Every year, Volvo's range of electric vehicles continues to evolve to meet your expectations. And for the year 2025, the Swedish brand is integrating a few new features into its compact SUV, making it even more coherent in the Quebec landscape.
Between a name change, a new software package and government rebates, discover the Volvo EX40 2025 in Quebec in this article.
The Volvo XC40 Recharge becomes the EX40
Like the Volvo EX40 2025, the Volvo XC40 Recharge will now be called the EX40. This change follows a standardization and rationalization of Volvo's electric range.
The aim is to make it easier for new and existing customers to understand which models are fully electric and which are hybrid, when shopping for a new Volvo car.
Styling, finishes and range are all unchanged for the Volvo EX40... Well, not quite, as you'll read next.
The new Volvo EX40 available in 2025
Like the Volvo EC40, the Volvo EX40 2025 in Quebec benefits from a new Performance Software package that makes the vehicle more dynamic on a daily basis.
New performance software
For the 2025 model year, Volvo is announcing a new Performance software package for the Twin Motor variant.
The Performance software package, which boosts power by 25 kW, also includes unique pedal mapping for faster throttle response and a unique “Performance” driving mode to unlock the full 325 kW.
Naturally, this increase in power isn't intended to win standing starts at city lights, but to give you greater versatility when overtaking vehicles or getting out of tricky situations.
Take advantage of another $12,000 before a change in 2025
To promote the purchase and use of electric vehicles in Quebec, governments have introduced rebates of up to $12,000.
In recent months, however, there has been a trend across Europe to reduce or even abolish these incentives. Quebec has not escaped this trend, reducing the rebate by $3,000.
As a result, as of January 1, 2025, all government rebates will drop from $12,000 to $9,000 on the Volvo EX40 2025 in Quebec.
However, it's still possible to take advantage of the Volvo EX40 2025 (and its $12,000 rebate) as early as 2024 by consulting our online inventory right now.
