The Volvo XC90 is like a 10-year-old Bordeaux red wine - the outer shell doesn't change, but that doesn't stop the contents from improving with age.
And while there aren't many differences between the Volvo XC90 2024 and the Volvo XC90 2023, there are subtle differences that are important to note.
In this article, we take a look back at what's new in 2024 for our luxury family car - the Volvo XC90.
Engines in the Volvo XC90 2024
First of all, as for the Volvo XC90's powertrains, as in 2023 we find two engines:
- The B6 AWD, equipped with a 48-volt mild-hybrid motor and a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine developing 295 hp and 310 lb-ft.
- The T8 eAWD, equipped with the same 4-cylinder engine plus an electric motor, gives the Volvo XC90 455 hp and a range of 53 km.
What's new in the Volvo XC90 2024
As we said in the introduction, the Volvo XC90 2024 is largely comparable to the 2023 models. However, there are a few new features worth mentioning:
- A new paint color (Vapour Grey), inspired by the rustic limestone houses of Scandinavia.
- The top-of-the-range Ultimate version now comes with laminated side windows as standard
- The “Dark” theme, which featured touches of glossy black, is not returning for 2024.
- T8 eAWD now available in 6-seat version
There are no significant changes to the Volvo XC90 2024's safety features. As standard, you'll still benefit from :

Three trim levels in 2024
The Volvo XC90 2024 features the same trio of trim levels as the 2023 model: Core, Plus and Ultimate.
Volvo XC90 Core
As standard, the Volvo XC90 Core 2024 features a 9-inch touch screen and navigation, leatherette upholstery, a 12-inch digital display for the driver and all the standard safety features.
Volvo XC90 Plus
In addition, you'll benefit from a 360-degree parking camera and heated rear seats and steering wheel.
Volvo XC90 Ultimate
In this trim level, the top-of-the-line Volvo XC90 features Nappa leather upholstery, front seat ventilation and Volvo's graphic head-up display.
