4315 Boulevard Métropolitain Est, Montreal, QC, H1R 1Z4Based on information gathered by several journalists, Volvo has seemingly decided on the name for it’s second all-electric model. It’s name? The Volvo C40.
The first glimpses released show a new vehicle that, stylistically, looks like no other Volvo model before it. Certain sources claim it will have a completely new roofline as well as uniquely designed rear lights.
This new model will seemingly replicate the front fascia of the Volvo XC40 Recharge, presented in 2019 by the Swedish manufacturer.
If we associate these two elements, we can imagine that Volvo’s inspiration will be based on a mix of the Polestar 2 of the electric version of the XC40.
If we base ourselves on information relased by several sources, the C40 will indeed be 100% electric. with a footprint similar in size to the aforementioned XC40 Recharge, it is highly probable that it will use the same P8 powertrain.
If we base ourselves on the figure from the XC40 Recharge, the only vehicle equipped with this powertrain, the electric autonomy of the C40 should be approximately 320 kilomètres.
Still based on information released by the automotive press, this new Volvo C40 should make its appearance on the market during the 2021 calendar year.
However, in view of the current worldwide pandemic, it is possible production will be delayed by several months.
We will keep you informed of an official release date once it is announced by the manufacturer.
The Swedish manufacturer advises that this vehicle is destined to a niche segment of the market. It will therefore not be subject to a production volume as high as other models of the brand. Based on estimated production numbers mentioned by the press, a total of 8000 units are destined for the worldwide market.
