At the end of 2024, we proudly announced the new Volvo XC90 2025.5 with a new exterior design and new technologies, closer to the Volvo EX90.
For the 2026 model year, Volvo is continuing to develop the new Volvo XC90 with a new version, essential equipment for Quebec (which becomes standard for the Core version) and a new colour.

New looks for the new Volvo XC90
For readers who haven't yet read the article on the facelift of the new Volvo XC90, it's worth noting that it has evolved with subtlety, particularly at the front where refined headlights are integrated into a redesigned grille with new intersecting diagonal bars. The rear has also been given a facelift, with darker, slimmer lights.
Inside, the cabin is more refined, with a flatter dashboard incorporating top-of-the-range recycled materials, a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen and an upgraded infotainment system, not to mention a cupholder for up to three drinks.
On the technical front, Volvo is retaining its 295 bhp B6 mild-hybrid petrol engine and 455 bhp T8 rechargeable hybrid, with an electric range of up to 53 km.
Dark Theme now available for the 2026 Volvo XC60
For the 2025 model year, it was only possible to order the Volvo XC90 with the Bright theme. For the 2026 Volvo XC90, it is now possible to obtain the Dark Theme exterior with the Plus or Ultra interior finish.
But what does the Dark Theme bring to the table compared to the Bright Theme?
In Volvo's nomenclature, Dark Theme is an exterior styling finish that replaced R-Design from 2023. As a result, when you purchase a 2026 Volvo XC90 in Dark Theme, the car automatically gets a few extra aesthetic elements:
- Black radiator grille
- Black rear window surrounds
- High-gloss black side window trim
- Roof bars in gloss black
- Black lower front and rear bumper
Climate Pack now standard on Core versions
One of the notable new features for 2026 is the appearance of the Climate Package as standard from the Core interior trim level.
So, at no extra cost, you get heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. A not inconsiderable comfort feature for the rather demanding winter conditions in our region.

When is the new 2026 Volvo XC90 available?
Since June 2025 it has been possible to order your 2026 Volvo XC90 from one of our sales representatives. There is also our online stock of vintage 2025 and 2026 which allows immediate deliveries to Volvo Cars Saint-Léonard.
The first deliveries are scheduled for July 2025 in our dealership in Montreal.
